And then there were four

We are traveling all day today!
From our original 9 leaving Phoenix together, 4 will return together.
We awoke at 3:30am, flew from Malaga to Madrid, hustled through the airport to catch our flight to London, and are now boarding our final flight to Phoenix. It will take us 24 hours total but will arrive home around 5:30pm (phx time) today - July 4th, 2016.

Please return to the Blog within the next few days for some great pictures and additional information (the connection will be better at home for pictures)

Malaga, Spain

My adrenaline rush was gone this morning. We had a 2-hour drive to Malaga and thinking about touring the city all day long sounded tough. But, when else would I be here!
It was when the big red double-decker bus pulled up that I got excited! We sat on the top deck, started our headsets, and felt the breeze as we drove around. Too fun!
Malaga sits on the edge of the Mediterranean Sea.

Last Official Day

Today is the last day of camp. I have spent at least 36 hours in direct contact with 6 of the 40 kids. My kids are between the ages of 12 and 18. They have been incredible to study scripture, play, and pray with. I have learned much from them.
Tomorrow we will catch our bus at 5am and drive to Malaga. We will get the day to tour around before our flight to Madrid, on Monday morning.

Trip to the village

This evening we had the evening session "off" and we're able to get transportation into the village Priego de Cordoba.
We got their during 'siesta' and walked along the empty, narrow, hilly streets. We stopped at a cafe for drinks and watched as the village came alive - people came out, shops opened and vehicles filled the streets.

Camp

Spending time with these kids is incredible! Our schedule for each day (Monday - Saturday) is:
Breakfast 8am
Worship 9am
Everyone goes into age groups 9:30-1:30pm
Lunch 1:30-2:30pm
Free time 2:30-5:30pm
Age groups 5:30-7:30pm
Dinner 7:30-8:30pm

During the singing part of the worship, three of the older boys assist in leading the songs.  It ia a joy to see their hearts sharing their talents, and participating.
After dinner our team has "porch time" where we debrief about the day, eat ice cream bars, pray and sing the doxology.
My routine after that is shower, play card games or chit chat, and spend a few hours prepping for the next day.
